Romanian Piano Trio
Members of Romanian Piano Trio are the exponents of a new trend among young Romanians with studies abroad the choice to pursue a blooming career in their native country, thus bringing home the knowledge and the experience they acquired overseas.
Pianist Horia Mihail comes back in Romania as concert soloist of the Brasov Philharmonic after holding the position of Associate Professor at the Boston University between 1999 and 2002; violinist Alexandru Tomescu is presently the concert soloist of the Romanian State Radio Orchestra after extensive studies in Switzerland, with Tibor Varga and in Dallas, Texas with Eduard Schmieder. Razvan Suma, holder of a Masters Degree at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is now Associate Professor at the Transylvania University in Brasov and is working on his Doctorate degree at the Bucharest Music University.
Being already quite experienced in chamber music, the three artists decided to establish a permanent trio. The idea which unites the three musicians, besides their passion for this musical genre, is the challenge of presenting to music lovers a vast repertory, largely unexplored, in a new and personal vision.
