Coductor - Ionel Tudor
The Radio Big Band was founded in 1950, first in the combo formula (under the conduction of Ido Cahan). In 1953, Sile Dinicu, conductor and composer, is appointed as leader of the band. The orchestra is growing with a section of cords, getting to have 45 players, becoming the best orchestra, of it’s type, from the country.
Since 1994, Ionel Tudor is starting to diversify the musical area, bringing along new songs but also players from the new generation. Now the Big Band is approaching not only on the pop music but participates, more and more, to jazz, blues, rock, boogie and even latino shows, galas, festivals.
During the years the orchestra accompanied international stars Vico Toriani, Josephine Baker, Jean Claude Pascal, Julio Iglesias, Cliff Richard, Marie Laforet, Juliete Greco, Connie Francis, Franky Avalone, Frida Boccara, Therese Steinmetz.
After1989, the Big Band had recitals with Shirley Basse, at Bucarest International Festival and RAy Charles at the Golden Stag International Festival in Brasov.
The Radio Big Band had numerous live apparitions at the national radio and television.
